The 14th Annual At-Home Dads Convention will combine speeches by nationally known experts with workshops ranging from marriage maintenance to hairstyling.
The event is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Durham Western Heritage Museum, 801 S. 10th St. It's open only to stay-at-home fathers. It costs $55, and people can register at the door at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
“Our main objective with this is to create, if it doesn't exist, or increase, if it does exist, the support network for at-home dads,” said Omahan Al Watts, a co-organizer of the event and vice president of Daddyshome Inc., the National At-Home Dad Network.
The featured speakers will be Aaron Rochlen, a University of Texas associate professor and nationally known researcher on stay-at-home fathers, and author Jeremy Adam Smith.
Smith, a former stay-at-home father himself, wrote “The Daddy Shift: How Stay-at-Home Dads, Breadwinning Moms, and Shared Parenting Are Transforming the American Family.”
