Jim and Pam finally tie the knot tonight on "The Office."

Memorable TV weddings we have crashed

By Dane Stickney
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

“The Office” romance finally becomes official. Jim and Pam, left, get hitched tonight during an hourlong episode of the NBC comedy at 8 p.m., in what is one of TV's most anticipated weddings. It has potential for classic laugh-cry moments, but will it be one of the best TV weddings ever? Here's the competition:

Mike and Carol

“The Brady Bunch,” 1969

The six kids behaved OK. The dog and cat, well, that's a different story.

Mike and Gloria

“All in the Family,” 1972

A wedding told in flashback, it featured Archie's unsavory racial humor and a flushing toilet. No one ever expected it to be classy.

Luke and Laura

“General Hospital,” 1981

More than 30 million people watched the wedding — a ratings record for daytime TV.

Sonny and Caitlin

“Miami Vice,” 1987

Don Johnson + Sheena Easton = a big-time TV wedding and the show's first ratings win over “Dallas.” But the love was short-lived: Caitlin was killed by season's end.

Woody and Kelly

“Cheers,” 1992

In typical “Cheers” fashion, it was perfect: drunken priests, pre-wedding sex and ruined wedding cakes.

Ross and Emily, Ross and Rachel, Chandler and Monica, Phoebe and Mike

“Friends,” 1990s and 2004

The NBC comedy had many good wedding moments. The best, though, has to be, “I, Ross, take thee, Rachel” when in reality he was marrying Emily. Ross, of course, later married Rachel in Las Vegas. They got divorced but ...

Scotty and Kevin

“Brothers and Sisters,” 2008

The occasion marked the first wedding for same-sex couples in U.S. TV history.

Meredith and Derek/Izzie and Alex

“Grey's Anatomy,” 2009

Dr. McDreamy and Grey finally got hitched, and the dying Izzie married her man, Alex.
