MEAD, Neb. — A Mead family was displaced after a fire appeared to have destroyed the family home.
Two adults and four children were sleeping when the fire started early Monday. All made it out safely,
Mead Fire Chief Mike Coyle said, although one woman suffered minor burns on her hands.
The Fire Department was called about 4 a.m. It took about an hour to bring the blaze under control.
Authorities were unable to estimate the amount of damage. The state fire marshal determined that the fire was caused by a malfunctioning household appliance, Coyle said.
