Apparently, flu season has reached at least one Husker. A sick Roy Helu didn't practice today, but coach Bo Pelini said the junior's illness isn't concerning.
And Helu's condition hasn't had a plague-like impact on the Huskers, Pelini said. The second-year coach dismissed any suggestions that Nebraska's developing a team-wide flu virus.
“No different than any other week,” Pelini said after practice today. “You always have guys that have a little bug. No issues.”
Helu could have practiced today, Pelini said.
The NU players who did work today for about two hours in the Hawks Center did well during their final on-field session of the week, Pelini said. He liked today's practice.
“We got a lot done,” he said. “I thought it was a good finish to the week physically… We got a lot of things covered. Pretty sharp. I like what I saw out there today.”
The Huskers were inside today, but they will be outdoors for the Thursday night matchup at Missouri.
The game could be played during the middle of a rainstorm, if early forecasts are accurate. Pelini didn't seem bothered by that, though. He said the Tigers would have to deal with the wet surface too.
“We're ready for all that, for inclement weather, all that stuff,” Pelini said. “They're going to be playing on the same field, in the same weather conditions that we are.”
