Sen. Greg Adams

Sen. Adams will seek 2nd term

LINCOLN — State Sen. Greg Adams of York announced Thursday that he will run for another term in the Nebraska Legislature.

He holds the District 24 seat, representing Seward and York Counties and part of Polk County. No other candidate has filed to run in the district.

Adams, 57, is a retired teacher. He is chairman of the Education Committee and sits on the Revenue Committee.

He is the latest incumbent senator to make public his plans to seek re-election.

Under term limits, state senators can serve only two four-year terms.

In 2006, 21 new senators were elected after term limits swept a number of veterans out of office. Those state senators are now eligible for re-election.

Along with Adams, the incumbents who have filed for re-election are: Sens. Bill Avery of Lincoln, John Wightman of Lexington, Cap Dierks of Ewing, Mark Christensen of Imperial and John Harms of Scottsbluff.

Sen. Amanda McGill of Lincoln has announced that she will run but has not filed.

No candidate has an opponent yet.
