The Denison community did so well in winning $1,000 for the Denison City Pound with the last Petfinder Shelter Challenge, the pound is going to try it again.
Jeri Dreyer, manager of the Denison City Pound, said, “If we group together early, we could get into the big money, easy.”
Petfinder.com, the Web site where Dryer lists all the adoptable pets that come into the pound, has again partnered with the Animal Rescue Site to award the most-voted-for animal shelters in the nation with grants ranging from $1,000 to $20,000. The winner in each state, at the end of the contest, will receive $1,000 (this is what the Denison City Pound won in August) and the top three shelters in the nation will win $3,000, $5,000, and $20,000 respectively. Votes are accepted at www.theanimalrescuesite.org until Dec. 20.
The first grant, and any subsequent winnings, Dreyer said, will be used to expand the existing facility located at 1530 Sixth Avenue South.
