CYCLE FOR SUDAN: Cyclists of all abilities are invited to “Cycle for Sudan” on Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. at Hefflinger Park, 112th Street and West Maple Road. The event is supported by All Saints Episcopal Church and its Sudan Mission Team. All proceeds will support the outreach to Sudan. Rides of 10, 20 and 25 miles will begin at the north end of the Big Papio Trail at Hefflinger Park. Registration for adults is $25 plus $100 in pledge donations. For children under 18 the fee is $12 plus $50 in pledge donations, and they must be accompanied by an adult rider. A picnic will follow the ride; details will be furnished in the registration packet. FALL FESTIVAL: For more than 25 years, the fall festival at Our Lady of Lourdes has been drawing parishioners, students, alumni and neighbors to the parish at 2124 S. 32nd Ave. This year's festival will be Sept. 27 from noon to 8 p.m. It will offer games, rides, food, live music, pickle cards, a silent auction — and even a “meat wheel” that will be spun for prime cuts of meat. It takes more than 500 volunteers to make the festival work each year, said the Rev. Bill L'Heureux, pastor. This year's co-chairmen are Jeff and Cheryl Janda and Tom and Liz Champion. “My job is to pray for good weather,” said L'Heureux.

GOSPEL CONCERT TONIGHT: Nashville's Ernie Couch and Revival will be in concert tonight at East Side Christian Church, 331 W. Bennett Ave. in Council Bluffs. The group offers a blend of traditional, country and contemporary gospel music. The concert starts at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m. There is no admission fee, but a freewill offering will be taken.

MORE GOSPEL MUSIC: McMillan and Life will be in concert next Saturday at 7 p.m. at Piedmont Park Church, 4801 A St. in Lincoln. Jimmy McMillan and Liz McMillan join Josh Arnett in presenting a gospel music ministry. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The concert is free, but an offering will be taken.

REDEFINING RICH: First United Methodist Church, 7020 Cass St., has started a class called “Let's Get Rich Together: Redefining Our Relationship to Money and the World.” Participants will learn new ways to manage money, teach children about money, get out of debt and accumulate wealth all while strengthening relationships with God and others. The class meets Sundays through Nov. 22 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the west parlor. Call Sue Rood at 556-6262 for more information or to register.

CHURCH DINNER: Archangels Michael and Gabriel Orthodox Church will be serving a church dinner on Sunday. Country-style barbecue ribs, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, salad and dessert are on the menu. The dinner starts at 1 p.m. at the church, 3219 R St. Cost is $7 per dinner. Takeout orders must be phoned to 734-5424 before 1 p.m. on Sunday and be picked up by 3 p.m.

DIVINE MERCY FUNDRAISER: Divine Mercy Parish in Schuyler, Neb., will hold its annual Roast Pork & Polish Sausage Dinner and Bazaar on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Mary Social Center, 320 W. 10th St. Also planned as part of the fundraiser for the Catholic parish are a silent auction, raffle, cakewalk and country store.

BASEMENT SALE: Christ the King Lutheran Church, 7308 S. 42nd St. in Bellevue, is having a Basement Sale on Friday and next Saturday. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Lunch will be offered.

DEATH-ROW DISCUSSION: “Innocent on Death Row?” That is the focus of a discussion Thursday sponsored by Nebraskans Against the Death Penalty, the Nebraska Innocence Project and the Nebraska Chapter of Amnesty International. The topic will be the case against Georgia inmate Troy Davis. The event will be held at the St. Pius X O'Brien Parish Center, 70th and Blondo Streets, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

CRAFTERS SOUGHT: Catholic Daughters is seeking crafters for its annual craft fair and soup kitchen. The event will be held Nov. 14 and 15 at the school gym of St. Mary in Bellevue. Contact Peg Kallman at 733-2915 or Cindy Bishop at 932-8341 for information.

GARAGE SALE: Lamb of God Lutheran Church is having a garage sale Thursday through next Saturday at the church, 7033 L St. Hours are 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
