Collins Okafor has returned to the Nebraska football team. The redshirt freshman I-back practiced today, completing an odd reversal after coach Bo Pelini announced 24 hours earlier that Okafor had quit the team.
Okafor was not available for comment, and Pelini did not field any questions about the former Omaha Westside star during the coach's brief session with the news media after practice.
NU media relations director Keith Mann confirmed Okafor's changed status after Pelini left the practice field.
Okafor was a two-time All-Nebraska running back at Westside. He redshirted last year and appears stuck among five I-backs fighting for time behind Roy Helu and Rex Burkhead.
The Huskers leave by charter flight for Virginia on Friday. They will face Virginia Tech Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
