    FOOTBALL

NU vs. ASU: Quarter by quarter

    FIRST QUARTER

    • Curenski Gilleylen: The sophomore speedster outruns two defenders, who lost a step when they saw Zac Lee's pump fake. Gilleylen's momentum takes him out of bounds as he catches the 43-yard pass in stride.

    • Legate: The fullback sneaks his way through the defense and jogs unguarded in the end zone on a first-and-goal pass. Lee finds him for the 3-yard score with 11:40 left in the first.

    • Mike McNeill: Nebraska's athletic junior tight end, streaking toward the corner of the end zone, jumps up a bit to snatch the softly thrown pass from Lee. His touchdown grab puts Nebraska up 14-0.

    • Jared Crick: He'll share the credit with Ndamukong Suh, but the sophomore defensive tackle actually got there first. On the quarter's final play, Crick's backfield pressure leads to a sack and forces a punt.

    SECOND QUARTER

    • Niles Paul: He takes the toss from Lee on a reverse and glides down the sideline for a 30-yard score. The junior's touchdown gives Nebraska a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.

    • Marcel Jones: Not a good moment for the sophomore offensive tackle. He's called for holding, nullifying a 70-yard pass from Lee to Paul — a play that would have given the Huskers a 28-0 lead.

    • Larry Asante: After nearly forcing a fumble in the first quarter, Asante delivers a big hit on Jahbari McLennan and jars the ball loose with 11:34 left in the second. Lineman Barry Turner recovers the fumble for Nebraska.

    • Jahbari McLennan: A gutsy call by ASU. On fourth-and-1 on the NU 23-yard line, McLennan keeps his feet inbounds as he catches a 20-yard pass. The Red Wolves scored on a 1-yard run two plays later.

    THIRD QUARTER

    • Prince Amukamara: The junior cornerback stands up ASU running back Derek Lawson short of the first down on a short-yardage run. The stop forces a punt on first ASU drive of the half.

    • Zac Lee: The junior quarterback delivers a pass that only McNeill could catch, one of many perfectly thrown balls on the day. And the junior tight end hauls in the pass for a 32-yard touchdown play.

    • Kedric Murry: The redshirt freshman tight end, running down the middle of the field, gets behind the defense for a 43-yard reception. It's the longest pass play the Huskers have allowed this season.

    • Alex Henery: Nebraska's field-goal kicker is a pretty good punter too. Henery's 49-yard boot died at the Arkansas State 3-yard line in the middle of the third quarter.

    FOURTH QUARTER

    • Josh Arauco: Nebraska nearly tips Arauco's field-goal attempt at the line. But 42-yard field goal barely makes it over the crossbar. ASU still trails 31-9.

    • Dreu Young: The ASU defense must have been fooled by the run fake because the junior tight end had a couple of steps on everyone. On third and short, Young picks up 27 yards on the catch to set up a first-and-goal.

    • Ndamukong Suh: The 300-pounder uses his quickness to find his way into the backfield, sacking quarterback Corey Leonard for an 11-yard loss to force a punt.

    • Khiry Cooper and Brandon Kinnie: The two receivers make the first career catches on a late-game drive led by freshman quarterback Cody Green. Fourteen Huskers caught a pass Saturday.
