Hindered view contributed to accident

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Limited visibility at a rural intersection contributed to the accident that killed a Grand Island businessman Tuesday.

The view of the intersection of A and Third roads in Merrick County, just south of Highway 30, was limited by corn growing in nearby fields. Roxy Clark’s pickup and a dump truck loaded with asphalt and pulling a trailer collided in the center of the intersection about 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Merrick County sheriff’s office.

Clark, 47, was trapped inside his pickup after the collision. He died at the scene. Both the pickup and the dump truck, which was driven by Michael Lee Mundy, 33, of Rison, Ark., rolled. Mundy was taken to St. Francis Medical Center by ambulance and was treated for minor injuries.
