A former Sidney, Neb., Public Schools teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old boy will serve 12 months in jail.
Todd Nienhueser, 38, of Sidney, had been charged in January with first-degree sexual assault of a minor but pleaded no contest to two amended charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both misdemeanors, as part of a plea agreement in July.
The plea agreement called for Special Prosecutor Dave Wilson to recommend probation as a sentence, according to court documents, but Cheyenne County District Judge Derek Weimer sentenced Nienhueser Tuesday to 12 months in the Cheyenne County jail on both counts. The sentence will be served concurrently, Wilson said.
The Sidney Public School District terminated Nienhueser shortly after charges were filed against him.
