Free planetarium shows are scheduled

Visitors can watch a free full-dome planetarium show on Thursday nights at the University of Nebraska State Museum in Lincoln.

Beginning this week, Mueller Planetarium will offer the 7 p.m. presentation of “Black Holes.” It will be free with regular museum admission after 4:30 p.m.

The museum is in Morrill Hall, south of 14th and Vine Streets.



Rockbrook Village hosts Razzamatazz

Come to Rockbrook Village from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday for Razzmatazz.

Music will be provided by KaJam and Mark Sanford. Merchants will hold open houses, and clay-throwing and sidewalk chalk art will be demonstrated.

Visitors can view artwork and meet the artists whose work will be auctioned off Sept. 17 at a gala benefit for the Omaha Symphony Guild.

Deadline near for benefit golf scramble

Golfers have until about noon Sunday to register for the McCook Community College athletic teams' two-person golf scramble at Heritage Hills Golf Course in McCook, Neb.

The cost is $150 per team. The event starts at 1 p.m. Proceeds will benefit McCook Community College's athletic programs.

Woodmen to help with food drive

Items can be donated to the Omaha-area Food Bank at 11 Baker's Supermarkets today and Thursday.

Woodmen of the World volunteers will collect the donations from noon to 8 p.m.

The effort is part of three days of caring organized by Woodmen of the Work, the Food Bank, the United Way and Baker's. It's an extended version of the United Way's Day of Caring, which is today.



Flea market is Saturday

You can check out a flea market organized by the Neighborhood Action and Facts Association on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Find the sale at 3802 N. 24th St.



Urban League plans annual open house

See what the Urban League of Nebraska, 3040 Lake St., is all about at its annual open house, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 10.
