These booths are for kids
If your business, organization or neighborhood association is kid-friendly, then this information from the South Omaha Boys & Girls Club is for you.
The club is looking for anyone who wants to put a booth up at its Day for Kids, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 12 at the club's south Omaha location. There is no cost to have a booth.

Love music? Learn to play
The Old Avoca Schoolhouse in Avoca, Neb., will have a beginning recorder workshop on Sept. 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for anyone who wants to learn to play the soprano recorder.
Deborah Greenblatt, master artist with the Nebraska Arts Council and member of the American Recorder Society, will lead the workshop.

Advice for coping with infertility
Coping With Infertility, a group that offers positive strategies and support for dealing with the stress of infertility, will meet from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith-Westwood United Methodist Church, 4814 Oaks Lane.
No preregistration is required and no fee is charged.
Lunch talk will cover ex-offenders
The Hungry Club will meet at noon Wednesday at Big Mama's Kitchen & Catering, 45th Street and Bedford Avenue.
Preston Love Jr. will lead a discussion about the challenges and solutions for ex-offenders. The gathering also will be a job fair featuring employers who have committed to hiring ex-offenders.
Guests are welcome. You pay for your own lunch.
Check out Ak-Elmwood for garage sales
The Aksarben-Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association will have a garage sale Thursday through Sept. 6. The association is providing advertising and yard signs as well as a list of participating residents to share with shoppers.
Fiddlers and more to play in Le Mars
The National Traditional Country Music Association's old-time country and bluegrass festival in Le Mars, Iowa, will kick off with two benefit concerts, starting today.
The concerts will help buy a kidney dialysis machine for the hospital in Le Mars.
The first benefit show will be at 7 tonight at the Old School Museum. The second benefit show will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Olson Center in downtown Le Mars.
Get a peek at top-notch artifacts
The Nebraska Archaeological Society will have a free, family-friendly Nebraska Artifact Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Seward County Fairgrounds in Seward, Neb.
No buying or selling of artifacts will be allowed during this educational show. There will be about 75 to 100 tables of prehistoric artifacts plus speakers and demonstrations.
A number of the private collections at this show are considered “world class” and rarely are available for public viewing. Refreshments will be sold.
