Benson plant sale hours extended
Benson Plant Rescue, 3103 N. 50th St., has extended its plant sales to three times a week.
The new times are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
The rescue features a variety of ornamental grasses, trees, shrubs, roses and perennials.
Financial planning workshop for women
Lorraine DiMartino of DiMartino and Associates Inc. will present a free financial planning workshop, “Starting Over: Financial Strategies for Women on Their Own,” from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the YWCA Omaha, 222 S. 29th St.
Any woman who would like information on how to begin and structure a plan for financial independence is welcome.

Music historian to perform, instruct
Lil Rev, an award-winning instrumentalist, songwriter and music historian — will be at Confluence Bookstore from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday for dinner, a ukulele concert and a workshop.
The schedule and cost: 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., spaghetti dinner, $10; 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., ukulele concert, $10; 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., workshop, $10.

Schroeder-Vogel Park slated for cleanup
The Aksarben-Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association has adopted Schroeder-Vogel Park for cleanup.
The next cleanup will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Cleanup activities will include edging the sidewalk along Saddle Creek Road.
Geneva Conventions to be commemorated
The Loess Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the four Geneva Conventions on war with an international humanitarian law class from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
The class is free and open to the public. To register, call 712-322-4017. The Loess Hills Chapter of the Red Cross is on the Charles E. Lakin Human Services Campus, 705 N. 16th St. in Council Bluffs.
Cornhusker Marching Band to perform
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cornhusker Marching Band will perform its annual preseason show Friday at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
The 7 p.m. show is free and open to the public. Attendees may enter the stadium through Gate 3 in the southwest corner or Gate 11 in the northwest corner. Seating will be in the lower level of the West Stadium.
Library plans evening of fun for adults
The Omaha Public Library will present another fun-filled Saturday evening for young professionals. This is the second Board Silly event for those who like to play games and meet new people.
It will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Benson Branch Library, 6015 Binney St.
Board Silly is free, but registration is required. Everyone 21 or older is welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
