• SEEN: During a field-goal attempt early in practice, senior Ndamukong Suh powered so far into the backfield that when he blocked the kick, the redirected football didn't even reach the line of scrimmage. Suh celebrated with a roar like a battle cry and a leaping hip bump on Barry Turner.
• FELT: The Huskers, who had spent fall camp practicing during the late afternoon when the August weather was hot and steamy, were on the field at 9 a.m. Friday. The sun was out, but conditions were pleasant for the team's first of two practices.
• HEARD: “It went fine. … Like I said, there's some good things and there's a lot we need fixed.” — coach Bo Pelini, commenting on his team's first scrimmage of preseason camp.
• UP NEXT: Pelini said he might have his players scrimmage again at some point Saturday. They'll begin practicing in the late morning.
