Construction work has begun on Highway 159, from the east end of Falls City and
continuing east into Rulo, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads.
Primary work consists of patching the existing pavement and then overlaying with 3” of new asphalt. Other work includes placement of granular sub drains, earth shoulder construction, guardrail, and other incidental work. Constructor’s Inc., of Lincoln, has the $1,897,130 contract.
All work will take place under traffic. Flaggers and a pilot vehicle will be used to control traffic. Work is anticipated to be completed late this fall. Motorists are urged to drive safely through highway work zones.
The Roads Department manager for this project is Don Hitzeman of Tecumseh.
