Crash kills Hemingford teen

A 17-year-old Hemingford, Neb., girl died early Sunday in a one-car accident about three miles north of Alliance, Neb.

A spokeswoman for the Nebraska State Patrol said Brittany M. Shaver was northbound in her 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo on Route 385 about 3:10 a.m. She veered into the east ditch, over-corrected and the vehicle wound up in the west ditch where it rolled.

Shaver, who was alone, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation.
