Omaha man stabbed

A 25-year-old Omaha man was stabbed in the chest and critically injured Saturday afternoon at 40th and Bedford Avenues.

The man, whose identity was not immediately available, was considered in criticial condition on the way to Creighton University Medical Center. But he was in stable condition a short time later, said Omaha Police Sgt. Keith Williamson.

The man was injured during a fight shortly before 4:30 p.m. at a home at 3246 N. 40th Ave. Police believe two men were involved in a dispute over a woman who lived at the house.

The suspect in the stabbing fled, and police were looking for him.
