One teen died and a second was injured in a car crash late Wednesday in rural Carroll County, Iowa.
Daniel Casey Stork, 16, of Coon Rapids, Iowa, was killed after the car in which he was riding went out of control on Timber Avenue south of Glidden, according to the Iowa Highway Patrol. The driver of the car, Daniel John Kult, also a 16-year-old Coon Rapids resident, was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital.
The two were traveling south on Timber Avenue between Glidden and Coon Rapids at about 11:30 p.m., the patrol said.
As Kult approached 220th Street, he attempted to pass another vehicle. His car hit the east shoulder of the road and went out of control, sliding across both lanes of traffic, landing in a ditch and rolling several times before landing in the yard of a nearby home, the patrol said.
