Storms may follow pleasant evening

BY NANCY GAARDER
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Folks headed to the debut tonight of this season's Jazz on the Green should be treated to some pleasant weather. Overnight, though, storms could blow in.

Jazz on the Green begins at 7 p.m. and features Bobby Watson and his quartet.

Temperatures are in the low 80s, a nice spinoff from a storm system that passed through the region this morning. The highs today otherwise had been forecast to reach into the low 90s.

David Eastlack, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service at Valley, said conditions are ripe for some portion of eastern Nebraska to see storms around midnight or later.

Eastlack said there is a small chance for storms during the Friday morning rush hour, and a greater chance in the afternoon.

The weekend is shaping up to be relatively pleasant, he said, with temperatures in the 80s.
