YPSILANTI, Mich. — Nebraska Association athletes won nine medals and qualified three athletes for the finals Thursday at the USA Track and Field Youth Outdoor championship meet.
Taylor Heim of Plattsmouth won a pair of events in the Midget girls (ages 11-12) division. Her winning throw of 104-2 in the mini-javelin and 82-8 in the discus were both personal bests.
Katelyn Gochenour of Missouri Valley was second in the mini-javelin (95-8) and sixth in the discus at 63-3. Gochenour's sister Kennedy won the Bantam girls (10-and-under) mini-javelin with a toss of 72-10.
Ralston junior Alex Beideck finished third with a toss of 44-6¼ in the Intermediate Boys (15-16) shot put. Terrell Brown of Omaha was eighth in the Youth Boys (13-14) discus with a 97-5.
Two Intermediate Girls also earned medals – Danielle Jones of Omaha was fourth in the triple jump (35-1¾), and Omaha Burke sophomore Michelle Wallerstedt was seventh in the shot put (32-11).
