David Edie enjoyed family, outdoors

By Elliot Njus
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

David Edie will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love for his family, his brother said.

Edie died June 12 at his home in Avoca, Iowa, of unknown causes. He was 57.

He was born in Malvern, Iowa, and graduated from Malvern High School.

Edie spent most of his adult life working as a pressman for various newspapers, including papers in Iowa, Mississippi and Maryland. He worked at The World-Herald for the past 15 years, leaving earlier this year because of medical problems.

He also had worked as a taxidermist.

Edie enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography and his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

He especially liked taking photographs of his family and friends, and he put most of his photos in albums online, his brother Robert Edie said.

“He was very computer savvy,” he said.

Robert Edie said his brother had a great sense of humor and was a good communicator.

“Someone could meet him one minute, and five minutes later they'd have a good friend,” Robert Edie said.

David Edie is survived by sons William of Atlantic, Iowa, and James of Westminister, Md.; daughter Kristy Walker of Walnut, Iowa; brothers Danny of Shenandoah, Iowa, John of St. Louis, Mo., and Robert of Independence, Mo.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
