The man who died in an early morning Bluffs house fire has been identified as Trevor Frederickson.
The 21-year-old died inside 305 Hyde Ave.
Council Bluffs Fire and Rescue were called to the house at 4:45 a.m. Assistant Fire Chief Larry Wohlers said that when crews arrived on scene, the residence was fully involved.
The victim was the only person in the home at the time. Chief Alan Byers said firefighters saw a vehicle in the driveway when they arrived, but the blaze was too intense for them to enter the house.
“The first floor of the house collapsed into the basement, which in this case was a garage,” Byers said. “So we had to knock down the fire, it was a pretty dangerous situation.”
Byers said fire investigators still are trying to determine the cause of the fire. Council Bluffs police detectives also are at the scene.
“With the first floor collapsed, we will be up here a long time digging through the scene to see what started (the fire),” Byers said.
